It's that time of year again, the 2024 hockey playoffs are quickly approaching! This is the most exciting time in the hockey season. The playoffs are a whole new beast in the season and as fans, we love the intensity! This is when passion truly shows.
Leagues Playoff Start Date
2024 NHL Playoffs
The battle for Lord Stanley's Cup begins in late April. The regular season comes to an end on April 18th and playoffs will begin shortly there after. 16 of the 32 NHL teams will play in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
- Top 3 teams in each division
- Atlantic, Metro, Central, Pacific
- 2 Wildcard teams from each conference
- East and West
2024 AHL Playoffs
The battle for the Calder Cup also begins in late April. The regular season concludes on April 21st. The playoff structure is certainly unique in the AHL.
- 23 teams will make the playoffs
- Top 6 in the Atlantic
- Top 5 in the North
- Top 5 in the Central
- Top 7 in the Pacific
- The first round is best of three series
- The division semifinals and finals are best of 5 sereis
- The Calder Cup Final is a best of 7 series
2024 ECHL Playoffs
The battle for the Kelly Cup begins on April 17th with the regular season ending the 14th. The format is the top 4 teams from each division.
2024 USHL Playoffs
The battle for the Clark Cup will begin on April 15th with a regular season conclusion of April 13th.
- Top 6 teams from each conference (east and west)
- Round 1 is is best of 3
- The remaining rounds are best of 5
2024 NCAA Playoffs
There's not a true "Playoff" in the overall NCAA, rather each teams are seeded throughout the year and each conference holds their own championships. These conference championships just concluded this weekend. Next will be regionals leading into the Frozen Four.
